Introduction

Identifying the lacunae of existing Paddy transplanting Machine in Indian condition we have developed an indigenous Allywing Model : APT- 6/PT1.3 front walk, self-propelled, six row rice transplanter for sowing mat-type seedlings. This project was submitted by Allywing in BIRAC IKP AGRI GRAND Challenge 2022 and after rigorous phase of selection Allywing Paddy Transplanter was selected. FARRD foundation accepted to support Allywing in technology deployment in field conditions.

Reasonably priced the Allywing Model : APT-6/PT1.3 front walk, self- propelled, six row rice transplanter is the ideal choice when taking the first step towards achieving outstanding operational efficiency and enhanced profitability through mechanization. Being the introductory- type, this model features a versatile size that can be easily operated with agility and effectiveness even in confined spaces. This translates into incomparably higher operational efficiency with significantly reduced labor costs than can be achieved through labour-intensive manual transplanting.

About Transplanter

It is a six-row Paddy-transplanter using mat type seedlings with high field capacity and provision for adjustments of number of seedlings per hill, depth of transplanting and hill-to-hill distance. Apart from that the depth of transplanting is maintained constant, automatically during transplanting. The machine employs double acting transplanting mechanism for enhanced sowing speed and high field capacity to an extent of 1 Acre in 58 minutes. Some very unique features that this machine harbours other than Low cost are single man operated with very low fuel consumption and extremely low weight. It also overcome one of the major lacunae that it is based on indigenous technology and thus availability of spare parts and servicing is easy. Thus the transplanting machine developed is simple and easy, opening the door to a new dimension of Paddy transplanting and professional agricultural excellence

Field demonstration studies

Prototype of our product was tested for its performance in our in house testing facility and soil conditions of farmer field and its performance was compared with that of existing in market. SOP developed by IRRI South Asia Regional Center (IRRI-SARC) was used for raising of Mat seedling for use in our paddy transplanter. It was tested at five different sites under supervision of FARRD foundation experts and evaluated for its performance. Performance indicators used for evaluation of Allywing Model : APT-6/PT1.3 front walk, self-propelled, six row rice transplanter were field capacity, field efficiency, fuel consumption, area coverage, cost economics etc.

Evaluation

FAARD foundation experts and Allywing Team after rigorous evaluation of Allywing Model : APT-6/PT1.3 front walk, self- propelled, six row rice transplanter found that the mechanism of the model is optimally performing good as per the small farm holdings is concerned. It was also found that it is a specialized machine made up of stainless steel. The machine works to a sowing capacity of 1 Acre in 58 minutes. This Machine ensures uniform spacing of 20 cm between row-to-row and plant-to-plant. Thus this machine provides major advantage of reduced cost of transplanting by 75-80%. Apart from availability of its spare parts locally, it is also easy to maintain. Thus this model could be a boon for farmers in Indian condition and specifically for small and marginal farmers with small land holdings.
